My favorite songs: Old School Love Playlist#1

I have been using music to concentrate on my work ever since I was in school. I always found myself struggling to focus due to the cacophony of several television sets in the neighbourhood. Yes, there was a time when entertainment was not very personal. I fell in love with my headphones almost two decades ago.

That’s why when India decided to go into a lockdown mode, I realized good old days are back. Here I am sitting at my work desk and I can already hear 3 people around me, from different offices and different households having telephonic conversation. Suddenly, I am privy to their not-so-secret office gossips too. Clearly, social distancing in India sounds like a myth to me. Anyway, like in all such morbid setups, my headphones are my heroes.

The only issue here is: I am almost running out of songs although my playlist is 1000 songs long. So, I thought why not start a series where in every post, I would talk about an emotion that the songs bring and you tell me your favorite songs attached to this emotion. And the best thing is: it would never get old.

Please note:

  • My music library unfortunately is only limited to popular Hindi and English Songs but I am open to listening to all kinds of music.
  • There is no ranking, it’s just a collection of songs that I could remember. I would keep adding to this list.

So, today’s topic is Old School Love

You know the love in fairy tales- when two people just meet without purpose and feel a connection. The magical time between their meeting and them realizing that they have fallen for someone. Sometimes they realize, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes they stay together, sometimes they part. But this feeling always makes you feel good, makes you smile, makes you want to believe in love. Songs that make you question- what if happily ever after really exist?

1. Far Away by Nickelback

My favorite lines:

On my knees I'll ask, "Last chance for one last dance?"
'Cause with you, I'd withstand
All of hell to hold your hand
I'd give it all I'd give for us
Give anything, but I won't give up
'Cause you know you know, you know

Preet Mori Piya Baaton Se Na Aankiye
Main Hi Mar Jaaun
Ya Mare Dooriyan
Dooriyon Ki Chadaron
Pe Yaadein Taankiye
